Campari America distribution changes hands

Campari America has extended its partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, moving distribution from Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) to the group in 14 US markets.

Campari America’s brands, including Grand Marnier, will now be distributed by Southern Glazer’s in 41 states

Campari first entered into a partnership with Southern Wine & Spirits of America, the predecessor of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, in 2014.

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the largest wine and spirits distribution firm in North America, was formed in July 2016 following the merger of Southern Wine & Spirits of America and Glazer’s Inc.

In addition to the initial 27 markets in which it represented Campari America’s brands, Southern Glazer’s will over distribution from RNDC in a further 14 markets starting 1 March 2017.

Those markets are: Texas, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Maryland, DC, West Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Montgomery County.

“SGWS has been a significant partner in the growth of our business for more than 25 years,” said Ugo Fiorenzo, managing director of Campari America.

“Campari America is now at a stage where our broad portfolio of highly desirable brands – including the recently acquired Grand Marnier – gives us increased leverage in the market, which we feel strongly SGWS has the right resources and capabilities on a national level to fully exploit.”

Gruppo Campari, parent company of Campari America, reached an agreement to acquire French liqueur Grand Marnier in March 2016.

“The move to shift more of our business to SGWS was driven by their ability to fully support our key priority brands, including a real focus on driving distribution both in open and control markets,” said Dan Vanderbilt, Campari America vice president of sales.
