Absolut recruits for ‘billion dollar nose’
Pernod Ricard-owned Absolut Vodka is looking to hire a new “billion dollar nose”, as sensory design director Per Hermansson prepares to retire.

Hermansson, who has worked with Pernod Ricard for two decades, has more than 35 years’ experience in the spirits industry, and has worked across the Absolut portfolio. He is due to retire in mid-June 2017.
Absolut is now looking for a “tastemaker and trend-spotter” to take over the role.
Applicants must have “documented blending skills”, an “understanding for aroma and taste and comprehension of texture in spirits”, and be a “leader and entrepreneur” with commercial and market understanding.
Personality is important, too – Absolut wants a “storyteller and a star” who can represent and promote the brand.
The right candidate will also be analytical, transforming consumer behaviour insights into spirits products.
The “billion dollar nose” role is the latest in a run of dream jobs. Last year, subscription service The Dram Team was searching for a whisky “dramprentice”, while G&T club ILoveGin has been searching for a “gintern”.
