Fulham Football Club opens gin bar
By Kristiane SherryChampionship side Fulham FC has opened an invite-only gin bar at its Craven Cottage ground as the football club seeks to widen its appeal beyond the beautiful game.
Unveiled at the victorious 5-0 match against Huddersfield Town on 29 October, The Clubhouse concept has been developed in partnership with Olivier and Emile Ward of the Gin Foundry.
Located in a home-end box, the bar currently features a range of 10 gins including Martin Miller’s, Thomas Dakin, Hayman’s and local pour Dodd’s.
Each is available as a signature G&T pour, with a number of cocktails also on the menu.
Olivier Ward said the eventual ambition is to grow the bar so that a locally-produced gin is stocked for every Championship side. This would then open the possibility for tastings ahead of each home game led by an ambassador for the “away team” gin.
In addition, it is hoped the bar will bring more visitors to the ground who have interests off the football pitch as well as on.
The Clubhouse is open at Craven Cottage now on an invitation-only basis.
Earlier this year, Beam Suntory opened The Hornitas Cantina Margarita bar at soccer team LA Galaxy’s StubHub Center.
