Davos Brands buys Aviation American Gin

Importer and marketer Davos Brands has acquired Aviation American Gin – said to be one of the fastest-growing spirits brands in the US – from House Spirits Distillery for an undisclosed sum.

House Spirits Distillery has sold Aviation American Gin to Davos Brands

The deal comes almost two years after New York-based Davos Brands entered into a sales and marketing partnership with Aviation, which will continue to be made by House Spirits Distillery at the firm’s flagship site in Portland, Oregon.

“House Spirits Distillery has created a phenomenal brand in Aviation American Gin,” said Guillaume Cuvelier, vice chairman of Davos Brands.

“As one of the leading craft spirits brands in the US, Aviation has been at the forefront of the craft spirits revolution for more than a decade. With this acquisition completed, we look forward to continuing to add best in class spirits brands to the Davos portfolio.”

Aviation American Gin was first launched in 2006 as part of a collaboration between bartender Ryan Magarian and House Spirits Distillery. It is said to “belong to an entirely new category of dry gins” due to its “shift away” from traditional juniper-led gins, instead offering a “more forward balance of botanicals”.

Following the acquisition, House Spirits Distillery believes Aviation can achieve significant growth.

“We’re incredibly proud of the role that Aviation American Gin played in revitalising the global gin category, eventually growing to become the best-selling American craft gin,” said Thomas Mooney, co-owner and CEO of House Spirits Distillery

“This is only the beginning, and we believe that Aviation has the potential to become a truly global brand. The experience of the Davos Brands team, and the resources they bring to bear, will allow Aviation to continue on its growth trajectory and eventually become one of the world’s leading gin brands.

“For our part, House Spirits will continue to distill each and every bottle of Aviation, as we have done for more than a decade.”

Davos Brands was established by Guillaume Cuvelier, founder of Svedka Vodka, in 2014.
