Riga Black Balsam cocktail comp returns
By Nicola CarruthersThe Riga Black Balsam Global Cocktail Challenge is set to return to Latvia for a second year, with 60 bartenders from 15 countries battling it out to become competition champion.
This year’s competition will feature 60 bartenders from 15 countriesEach bartender will present an original cocktail recipe featuring Riga Black Balsam – one of the world’s oldest bitters.
The contestants will be evaluated by a panel of international judges based on the quality of the cocktails, originality of presentation and taste.
Forming the judging panel are Ron Busman, president of the International Bartenders Association; Mario Hofferer, champion of IBA Cocktail World 2011; Raimonds Tomsons, sommelier; and Valters Kaže, chief marketing officer of Amber Beverage Group.
In its second year, the competition will take place on 24 November in the Latvian capital of Riga, home of the Riga Black Balsam brand.

Kaže added: “Comparing original creations from the 60 best bartenders from around the world is both a pleasure and a challenge. No doubt, the best of the best will invest their efforts in making Riga Black experience unforgettable.”
