Duncan Taylor intros ‘rare’ 40yo Scotch blend
By Annie HayesIndependent family-owned drinks company Duncan Taylor has launched Black Bull 40 Year Old, an “exceptionally rare” blended Scotch that contains whiskies dating back to 1966.
The blend features Aberlour 1975, Macallan 1969 and Glenlivet 1968
The blend is said to include an array of single malts, including Aberlour 1975, Macallan 1969 and Glenlivet 1968. Bottled at a ration of 86% malt to 14% grain, the expression features whiskies dating back to 1966.
“Black Bull 40 year old is a world class whisky and it has been worth the wait to add it to our portfolio,” said CEO Euan Shand.
“We are confident that it will take its place amongst the best luxury whiskies available today and cement our position in the market place.”
Given tasting notes include toffee, apples, milk chocolate, grapefruit and mango.
The latest Black Bull release follows up a 2011 batch that received a 94% rating in blind tests by industry leaders. Duncan Taylor is said to own one of the largest privately-held collections of rare Scotch whisky casks.
Only 1,500 bottles of the limited edition have been made available.
Black Bull 40 Year Old is available from selected retailers now, priced at £750 per bottle.
