Wilderness Trail expansion ‘close’ to completion
Wilderness Trail Distillery’s US$3.5 million distillery expansion project is “getting close to being finished”, the Kentucky-based Bourbon, rye whiskey, rum and vodka producer has said.
Wilderness Trail Distillery took delivery of new 4,000 gallon fermenters for the new distillery this week
Wilderness Trail opened in Danville in 2013, and is in the process of expanding into a 21-acre lot.
The team this week took delivery of new 4,000 gallon fermenters, a cool tank and a beer well from Vendome Copper & Brass Works.
A new 40-foot column still will be delivered next week.
“We should be producing around 12 barrels a day by 1 May, a big increase from our current one barrel of bourbon a day. Concrete for the new warehouse is being poured as we type,” the team said in a statement.
In addition to the distillery expansion, a new 8,000+ barrel rickhouse will be built this summer.
The new site came with the historic Willis Grimes House, built in 1859. Wilderness Trail is renovating the property, which will act as a gift shop and tasting room.
Wilderness Trail Distillery is part of the The Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour, which welcomed two new members in 2015.
