Glenfiddich and Baccarat unveil partnership
By Kristiane SherryWilliam Grant-owned Glenfiddich and crystal house Baccarat have launched Glenfiddich Cask Collection Finest Solera as part of a new, ongoing partnership.
Glenfiddich and Baccarat have announced an ongoing partnership
Revealed at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, the partnership “enables us to take the Glenfiddich experience to new levels of hand-crafted luxury,” said Philip Gladman, global chief marketing officer for William Grant & Sons.
The first product to be released under the partnership, Glenfiddich Cask Collection Finest Solera, forms the “latest and rarest expression” in the travel retail exclusive Cask Collection Series.
Presented in a hand-blown, hand numbered crystal decanter, the whisky was selected from “up to 20” ex-Bourbon and American oak casks by Glenfiddich malt master, Brian Kinsman. He then married the whiskies for at least two months using the distillery’s solera process.
The whisky was bottled at 48% abv. Given tasting notes include crème brûlée, soft spices, raw cane sugar and caramelised fruit.
Each batch is numbered, with a maximum of 600 bottles released per batch. Every individual decanter is marked with a bottle number, and the batch number is hand-written on the label alongside Kinsman’s signature.
A neck collar and stopper are made from copper, with hand-engraved Glenfiddich wording and the stag emblem. The red cartouche, a reference to the iconic Baccarat red logo, was created using 24 carat gold powder and displayed on the bottle to reference the “skill and traditions of Baccarat’s craftsmen”.
“The stunning presentation of the whisky matches the exceptional flavour profile of this superlative single malt,” Gladman continued.
“Travellers who select this product can do so knowing that they are purchasing a masterpiece, and that centuries of craftsmanship have gone into producing each one-of-a-kind.”
Stéphane Decaux, vice president of Baccarat’s Home Business Unit added: “What greater compliment for our glassmakers than to be crafting decanters for the world’s most distinguished Scotch whisky. We take great pleasure in knowing that we have added to the renowned Glenfiddich experience, and we hope that contemporary connoisseurs of style, elegance and taste will savour every precious moment.”
The Glenfiddich Cask Collection Finest Solera is available in global travel retail with a recommended retail price of £1,750 for 70cl.
William Grant & Sons had a busy week in Cannes, also announcing a travel retail exclusive collection from Grant’s, and a new blended Scotch brand, Hazelwood.
