Michter’s Distillery releases Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon
By Annie HayesMichter’s Distillery has released a limited number of its annual US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon expression as the company “does not have adequate stocks to meet demand”.
The Bourbon will be available on a “limited basis” onlyThe variant made its debut in Autumn 2014, and is made by ageing Michter’s existing US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon for an additional period in a second custom-made barrel.
The second barrel is assembled from 18-month air-dried wood, and then toasted rather than charred.
A statement from the distillery said: “The truly unique and delicious taste of Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon represents a remarkable achievement given that it is Kentucky Straight Bourbon with nothing extra added or done except placement in a second toasted barrel.”
The new 2015 expression joins Michter’s portfolio of single barrel rye, small batch Bourbon, single barrel Bourbon, American whiskey, and sour mash whiskey.
The Bourbon will be available on a “limited basis” only, as Michter’s does not have “adequate stocks” to meet demand for its items.
Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon is bottled at 45.7% abv, and will be available in the US at an RRP of of US$53 per 750ml bottle.
