Funkin launches ‘innovation’ cocktail competitionBy Annie Hayes
Cocktail company Funkin has launched a nationwide competition to recruit a new “Innovation Champion” for its product development team.
Following a “successful partnership” in 2014 with former Innovation Champion, Dan Redman-Hubley, the brand has launched its annual search for a bartender who believes they have the next big product idea for the on-trade.
Funkin is inviting bartenders across the UK to submit their idea, along with an original cocktail featuring any product from the Funkin Pro range.
Those whose cocktails and concepts wow the Funkin team the most will be invited to compete for the title of Innovation Champion at the brand’s headquarters London this September.
The winner will work alongside Funkin on a paid, part-time freelance basis for one year, and will have the opportunity to work on and contribute to projects and innovations within the company.
The search was announced at the second annual Funkin Innovation Forum (FIF), which brought together industry leaders to discuss trends, challenges and opportunities across all sectors of the business.
Funkin managing director, Andrew King, said: “The Funkin Innovation Forum is a perfect example of how we work with the on-trade to ensure every cocktail served, no matter the venue, is a great one, and that we provide quality ingredients to customers.
“Cocktail innovation is at the heart of Funkin’s ethos and as we continue to grow and innovate, we are excited to embark on the search for our second Innovation Champion.
“Following the successful partnership with Dan Redman-Hubley, we are looking to give a bartender with unique ideas and passion for their craft the opportunity to develop visionary ingredients alongside Funkin.”
Entries close on August 10, and bartenders can apply on www.barlifeuk.com.
Earlier this year, Funkin continued its “pipeline of innovation” by introducing two new flavours in its “single batch” range.
