Bacardi brings Bonnie Rose corn whiskey to US
By Melita KielyBacardi has debuted a new flavoured Tennessee white corn whiskey range in the US, called Bonnie Rose, to tap into growing demand for flavoured whiskey.
Bonnie Rose offers two expressions – Orange Peel and Spiced AppleThe Bonnie Rose brand comprises two flavoured expressions, including Orange Peel and Spiced Apple, both inspired by the legend of Bonnie Rose.
Some rumours argue Bonnie Rose was a distiller’s daughter who grew up around the barrel room, but others claim she was a bartender known for mixing top notch Whiskey Sours.
“Bonnie Rose is a slice of southern Americana capturing a sense of empowerment, optimism and zest for life,” said Dan Pilas, vice president managing director for Bonnie Rose. “We are very excited to tap into the explosive flavoured whiskey category that drinkers have proven to love over the last few years.
“We are confident people will love the great taste of Bonnie Rose – slightly sweet, with a kick and a whole lot of character.”
Bonnie Rose is distilled in copper pot stills from an 80% white corn mash and is designed to be sipped neat or mixed in cocktails, with recommendations to mix Orange Peel with ginger ale or to add a twist to a classic Cosmopolitan, and suggestions to serve Spiced Apple with hard apple cider or in a Moscow Mule.
The two expressions first launched in Nashville on Monday and are being rolled out across the US with immediate effect.
Both bottled at 35% abv, Bonnie Rose Orange Peel and Bonnie Rose Spiced Apple carry an RRP of US$18.99.
