Wild Turkey partners with USBG for masterclass

Wild Turkey Bourbon has teamed up with the United States Bartenders’ Guild to once again run its educational bartender programme Behind the Barrel.

The masterclass is led by father-and-son Wild Turkey distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell

Italian drinks producer Gruppo Campari, owner of Wild Turkey, has re-introduced the program, led by father-and-son distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell, to give bartenders “a peek behind the curtains” of the brand’s production methods.

To help hone their craft, bartenders have the opportunity to learn the art of whiskey-making from the Bourbon Hall of Famers, which spans from grain selection to barrel placement in the ageing warehouses.

The participating bartenders will spend the weekend dividing their time between educational and “fun” activities, which include “skeet shooting”, a special sugar barrel tasting with Eddie Russell, and a night camping on the distillery grounds.

Behind the Barrel is open to both USBG and non-USBG members, and there are just 30 places available.

The Spirits Business is set to partner with the USBG at Vinexpo Bordeaux’s hotly anticipated Spiritual bar, where the fascinating world of spirits and cocktails will take centre stage.

A wide range of spirits including brandy, vodka, rum, whisky, gin and Armagnac will feature prominently in the spirits sector of the show, alongside others such as cachaça, grappa and Tequila – so we selected our top pick of products for you to keep your eyes peeled for here.
