SWA makes two new senior appointments

The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) is increasing its London presence with the appointment of a new director of global affairs and head of external communications.

Sarah Dickson will take up the post of director of global affairs with the SWA from July

British ambassador, Sarah Dickson, who is currently serving as HM ambassador to Guatemala and Honduras, will take up the position of director of global affairs when the SWA’s new London office near Westminster opens in July.

Dickson will be tasked with helping the trade body build and extend its international influence and contacts, eliminate barriers to Scotch exports and position the SWA as an organisation with “broad international credibility” on the importance of free trade and open markets.

“I’m looking forward to joining the Scotch Whisky Association, an organisation recognised globally for its work in representing a highly successful Scottish and British industry,” said Dickson. “I will develop the Association’s sterling work in trade policy and build its presence in London with the help of a strong team.”

Graeme Littlejohn will take on the role of head of external affairs in London, having previously worked as head of office for Alexander when he was MP and chief secretary to the Treasury.

In his new role, Littlejohn will be responsible for developing SWA relationships across Whitehall and Westminster.

Helena Mumdzjana, a trade policy manager with the SWA, will move from Edinburgh to London and more trade and regulation specialists will be appointed to the team in time.

“I’m delighted that Sarah and Graeme are joining the Association,” commented David Frost, CEO of the SWA. “They bring a wealth of experience and will be real assets as we grow our presence in London and overseas.”
