New bar exclusively sells British beverages
By Annie HayesThe Great British Bar is thought to be the first of its kind to exclusively stock and serve spirits and other beverages made in Britain.
The Great British Bar claims to serve 100% British spirits and drinksThe bar, based in Augill Castle, Cumbria, sources independent, family-owned producers of gin, vodka, whisky, liqueurs, brandy, and rum to line the back bar, such as Sipsmith gin and Chase vodka.
Everything on the menu has been brewed, distilled or fermented in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland, including a variety of beers and ciders, juices, mixers and soft drinks.
A statement from the company said: “Augill’s Great British Bar is the first of its kind in the UK. There are other hotels, restaurants and bars that stock a good representation of British drinks, but none that are exclusively British.
“Through The Great British Bar, Augill Castle is celebrating the boom in quality artisan production and showcasing the very best that Britain’s drinks industry has to offer.
“Renowned, award-winning brands including Sipsmith, Adnams and Chase are featured heavily along with Bedrock, The Lakes Distillery, Langtons, Standing Stones and Kin, which are all made in Cumbria.”
