George Clooney unveils Casamigos Añejo Tequila
Hollywood actor George Clooney and his business partners have expanded their Casamigos Tequila brand to include an añejo expression.
Clooney, famous for his roles in blockbusters such as Ocean’s Eleven and Gravity, and his partners Rande Gerber and Michael Meldman have added Casamigos Añejo to the brand’s portfolio, which already included Blanco and Reposado variants.
Casamigos Añejo is described as a small batch, ultra-premium Tequila made with 100% blue agave weber. After harvest, the agave piñas are roasted in traditional brick ovens for 72 hours and undergo an extra-slow fermentation process for an additional 80 hours.
“We are extremely excited and proud to add our añejo after resting it to perfection in our barrels in Jalisco, Mexico,” said Clooney. “It’s a great feeling to share something we created, drink and are extremely proud of.”
The new variant – which along with all other Casamigos Tequila batches is tasted and approved by Clooney and Gerber – is said to have notes of caramel, vanilla, oak and spice.
“It was important to take our time and have the patience necessary to create the perfect añejo,” added Clooney. “We’re happy to say it is ready for the bottle. In fact, to be sure, we bottled a couple cases and have been enjoying it with friends for the past few weeks.”
Bottled at 40% abv, Casamigos Añejo is available across the US and Canada at an RRP of US$54.99.
It was revealed in March this year that Sidney Frank Importing Company had won the exclusive right to import and distribute Casamigos Tequila in the US and Caribbean.
