Scotch faves get Sherry twist in new Darkness! range
Maverick Drinks has launched Darkness!, a series of well-known Scotch whiskies that have been further aged in “tiny” Sherry casks.
The Darkness! range of Scotch whiskies have been further matured in 50-litre Sherry casksDescribed as a “bold, brash, beastly new range”, Darkness! features whiskies from Scotland’s most renowned distilleries that have been aged by Maverick Drinks for a further three months in 50-litre oloroso and PX casks.
Included is a 21-year-old Ardbeg finished in an oloroso cask; a 16-year-old Clynelish finished in a PX cask and a PX-finished 15-year-old Macallan.
“There are no surprises for subtlety here – Darkness! is all about big flavours like Christmas cake, spice, dates and prunes: flavours typically associated with Sherry-matured whisky,” Maverick Drinks claimed.
Each expression is presented in a bold glass bottle with a foiled and embossed label hand-illustrated by designer Tom Lane.
Prices range from £59.95 to £199.95 depending on the expression.
