By Melita KielyIndependent Cognac producer Camus is releasing just 991 bottles of a limited edition 40-year-old Cognac, the latest addition to its Rarissimes range.
Camus is releasing a limited edition 40-year-old Cognac to its Rarissimes collection
The new release was drawn from just three casks under the watchful eye of Patrick Léger, cellar master of the House of Camus and witnessed by a bailiff to “preserve and ensure the quality” of the 2014 edition.
Described as offering an aroma of candied fruits with a touch of oak, the 40-year-old Cognac is said to give flavours from fruit to oak with floral and spicy notes, leading to a “marron glacé” – a chestnut candied in sugar syrup and glazed.
The packaging of the limited edition is decorated with the platinum Camus plaque to “emphasize the bottle’s uniqueness”, while the detail of the black capsule is said to evoke the Camus “Paradise” cellar.
Bottled at 40.9% abv, Camus Rarissimes 40-year-old will be available worldwide from June 2014 at a maximum RRP of US$780 per 700ml bottle.
