Martini sponsors UK powerboat racing team
Martini has announced a sponsorship deal with British powerboat racing team Vector, 20 years after the brand was last seen in competitive boat racing.
Italian vermouth and sparkling wine brand Martini is to sponsor the UK powerboat racing team Vector
The Italian vermouth and sparkling wine brand, owned by Bacardi, has lent its name to Vector, also a global manufacturer of high performance powerboats and yachts, for the creation of the Vector Martini Racing Team, members of which will compete in the London to Monte Carlo Venture Cup.
Martini’s logo and “iconic” racing stripes will feature on the new Vector V40R powerboat, which will depart from underneath London’s Tower Bridge on the river Thames and travel 2,500 miles over two weeks before arriving in Monaco, as part of the opening weekend for the Yacht Club de Monaco.
“Our relationship with powerboat racing started in 1973 and the new partnership with Vector creates an exciting new chapter in this history,” said Sandy Mayo, global category director for Martini.
“The V40R boat with its Martini Racing Stripes looks amazing and we are delighted to form Vector Martini Racing to participate in competitive offshore racing once again.”
Special guests of Martini will the opportunity to jump onboard the Vector Martini Racing boat during the Venture Cup to experience the race. A fully configured V40R has also been created for fans to browse offshore.
Vector is the first British powerboat racing team to be sponsored by Martini.
Earlier this month, the Italian drinks brand announced a multi-year sponsorship deal with Williams Formula One, creating Williams Martini Racing.
