Woodford Reserve is commemorating its 16 year partnership with the Kentucky Derby by releasing new limited edition bottleThe Brown-Forman owned Bourbon’s new bottle design – entitled The 4th Turn –features the work of local artist David O. Schuster.
His illustration captures the horses and jockeys in their multi-colored silks racing down the final stretch and last turn of the Kentucky Derbu, as a blurred crowd cheers in the background.
“David O. Schuster has been a fixture of the city’s art community for over a decade, making him the ideal selection as the 140th Kentucky Derby bottle artist,” said Jason Kempf, Woodford Reserve brand director.
“Schuster has a true ability to craft beauty and wonder from his equine subjects, and Woodford Reserve is honoured to showcase his work on this year’s commemorative Derby bottle.”
The neck of the bottle features a diamond pattern of light blue and copper while the Kentucky Derby 140 date seals its top. An attached tag hangs around the bottle displaying information about the product and its designer.
Woodford Reserve has been the official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby for the past 16 years.
The 4th Turn commemorative bottles are now available across the US at an RRP of US$43.99.
Last year, Woodford Reserve celebrated the launch the 2013 Kentucky Derby with the release of 89 US$1,000 gold themed julep cups.
However, Woodford Reserve is not the only brand to mark the popular annual horse racing event. Last April, Jim Beam released a limited edition Bourbon in anticipation of the Kentucky Derby.
