Three men charged over $700k spirits theft

Three men have been charged over the theft of AU$700,000 worth of alcohol stolen from a Sydney distribution centre over a five-month period last year.

Police believe the thefts, which included vodka, Scotch and rum, were stolen over a series of 13 separate incidents spanning from July to December 2013 from a distribution centre in Eastern Creek, Sydney, and transported by truck.

According to reports from The Daily Telegraph Australia, detectives have now arrested a 36-year-old man who was allegedly seen driving a truck at the product distribution centre on several occasions last year.

He was charged with four counts of stealing and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday 1 April.

A second man, a 29-year-old manager of a liquor store, was arrested on March 13 after police received information that he allegedly received stolen alcohol.

The manager was charged with receiving stolen property and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Monday 5 May.

On Thursday morning a third man, aged 30, attended Parramatta Police Station where he was arrested and charged for a series of offence including, four counts of embezzlement as a clerk, disposing stolen alcohol, sale of alcohol without a licence, receiving stolen televisions and possession of ammunition.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 7 May.
