Martini Bitter to be relaunched in UK
By Melita KielyItalian brand Martini is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year with the relaunch of Martini Bitter exclusively in the UK.
To celebrate its 150th anniversary Martini is relaunching Martini Bitter exclusively through Coe Vintners in the UKCreated using the original recipe developed by its founder, Luigi Rossi, in 1872, the “light and refreshing” bitter-Aperitif will be available for three months exclusively through Coe Vintners from mid-March.
“We are delighted to have a three month exclusive distribution of the new Martini Bitter to London’s premium on-trade,” commented Mike Beavan, sales director at Coe Vintners. “At Coe Vintners, being first to market is always exciting; our established relationships with London’s best bars, restaurants and five star hotels will allow us to launch Martini Bitter and initiate its journey throughout the UK.”
Martini Bitter is made from a selection of botanicals including sweet oranges, limes, Italian artemisia, Chinese rhubarb, gentian and roses from Bulgaria, selected by master herbalist Ivano Tonutti.
It is then blended with pure water and alcohol to create a crimson-coloured drink, which Martini describes as being a ‘naturally refreshing spirit’.
Bottled at 20% abv, Martini Bitter carries an RRP of £22.50 per 1L bottle.
“Martini has always been rooted in drinks innovation and as we celebrate our 150th anniversary by reliving our classic cocktail legacy, we are re-launching some of the great products created in the time of our founders,” explained John Grieveson, UK marketing director at Bacardi.
“Martini Bitter offers an explosion of flavours with gentle bitter, zesty lime and a touch of honey and we invite everyone to rediscover the classic cocktails that its special recipe creates.
“Martini Bitter offers a lighter, more refreshing style than other bitters and being from the same Martini family it’s over 100% complementary to Martini Rosso. From a taste perspective, both products are entirely balanced, so when you use them to make classic Italian cocktails like the Americano and Negroni, it brings harmonious, perfectly balanced sensations to the drink.”
