Australian wins Angostura Cocktail Challenge
Australian bartender Michael Tomasic has become Angostura’s new global brand ambassador after winning the 2014 Global Angostura Cocktail Challenge in Trinidad this weekend.

The Sydney bartender, of Mr Moustache in Bondi Beach, won the competition against 10 other global finalists to also win the grand prize of US$10,000.
The entrants, who had all won a regional competition to make it to the final, had just seven minutes to prepare two signature cocktails.
Tomasic’s first drinks, The Big Bird, contained Angostura rum, Fernet Branca, citrus, pineapple juice, Crawley’s spiced honey apple syrup and Angostura Bitters, whil his second, named Olympia, contained Hine Cigar Reserve Cognac, Pedro Ximenez, lemon juice, egg white, fig jam and Angostura Bitters.
In second place was Nazar Makarov from Russia, while Mate Csatlos from the UK came third.
