Highland Park adds Freya to Valhalla Collection
Highland Park has announced the release of a third whisky in the Valhalla Collection will be a 15-year-old single malt Scotch whisky called Freya.
The third expression in Highland Park’s Valhalla collection is a 15-year-old single malt Scotch whisky named Freya
Inspired by the Nordic Gods, the latest expression is named after the Norse Goddess of Love, often known as The Fair One, patron and protector of the human race.
The creators have attempted to reflect the characterisations of the Norse God in the whisky’s appearance and flavour, using Freya’s “depth and intriguing allure” as inspiration for the single malt, creating a “fresh, golden and seductive”drink.
Keeping with the theme of the previous two expressions, Freya comes packaged in a wooden frame reminiscent of a traditional Viking long ship.
The new release is bottled at 51.2% and is described as offering a white chocolate aroma followed by candied cherries, mango and melon while keeping the sweet smokiness of Highland Park whisky.
Freya will be available from specialist independent whisky retailers, at the Highland Park distillery and www.highlandpark.co.uk at an RRP of £140.
Highland Park’s first expression in the Valhalla collection was Thor, released in 2012, followed by Loki which was released last year.
