Diageo named “most admired company”By Amy Hopkins
Diageo has been crowned “Britain’s Most Admired Company” in a peer review run by UK business magazine Management Today.
Winning the accolade for a third time, and for a second consecutive year, Diageo was judged across nine separate criteria by a panel of business peers. On the judging panel sat board-level representatives, investment firm analysts and financial commentators.
The criteria ranged from the company’s quality of marketing, to its financial performance.
Ivan Menezes, CEO of Diageo, said: “I am immensely proud that we are one of only two companies to have won this highly respected award three times – it is certainly a huge honour to be recognised by our peers in this way.
Menezes added that this award was “testament to the hard work and dedication of every single one of our 36,000 employees around the world”. He also paid tribute to former CEO of Diageo, Paul Walsh, who is currently completing a 12-month handover process, claiming that he “led the company with such great vision” and “this award is part of his legacy”.
Diageo had previously been named “Britain’s Most Admired Company” in 2012 and 2008.
