Sipsmith creates gin with more juniper and a higher abv
By Amy HopkinsBritish gin brand Sipsmith has released a stronger expression deemed “the ultimate experience and celebration of juniper”.
Sipsmith’s V.J.O.P contains heavier notes of juniper and is bottled at a higher abvFeaturing an increased proportion of juniper, Sipsmith’s V.J.O.P (Very Junipery Over Proof) is based on the company’s London Dry Gin yet is bottled at a higher abv of 57.7%.
The original recipe has been altered by master distiller Jared Brown, who developed a ‘triple juniper’ technique for V.J.O.P, which involves adding the ingredient to distillate at three different stages.
“We see this as the ultimate experience and celebration of juniper,” said Sam Galsworthy, co-founder of Sipsmith.
“Imagining the botanicals as components in an orchestra, here we have taken the lead instrument and amplified it in the ensemble, and then raised the decibels by increasing the proof alcohol. The result is a special juniper-forward gin.”
Sipsmith’s V.J.O.P, is now available to the on-trade and from independent retailers across the UK at an RRP of £37.95.
