Kilchoman’s new Islay warehouse follows a £450,000 bank loanThe single malt Scotch whisky producers has unveiled a new 2,400 metres-squared building located a few miles away from its distillery and visitor centre on the island of Islay.
Described as an “exciting landmark” in the distillery’s history, it is hoped that the warehouse will allow the company to satisfy “growing demand” for its products.
“The new warehouse opens up a number of opportunities for Kilchoman and to have reached this milestone earlier than we had anticipated is a great achievement for us,” said Anthony Wills, managing director of Kilchoman.
“We built the warehouse to utilise the space we have at the distillery and we’re looking forward to being able to move Kilchoman into a new chapter of its history.”
The Spirits Business reported in March this year that the distillery would be expanding its Scotch whisky warehouse facilities on Islay with a £450,000 bank loan.
Currently, Kilchoman produces 120,000 litres of alcohol a year.
It was announced in September that Kilchoman would be releasing a 2007 vintage – its oldest expression to date.
