Nütrl founders back Los Sundays Tequila
By Nicola CarruthersThe founders of ready-to-drink (RTD) brand Nütrl have made a strategic investment in Los Sundays, one of the fastest-growing Tequilas in the US.

Husband and wife Paul and Melissa Meehan have backed Los Sundays through their alcohol investment platform Me&Brands.
Through their company, the Meehans will lead the expansion of Los Sundays in Canada and the brand’s new RTD Tequila Soda launch for 2026.
The couple have experience in the RTD category, having turned Nütrl into Canada’s leading vodka soda brand. It was sold to AB InBev in 2020, joining the company’s ‘beyond beer’ portfolio, which also includes acquired RTD brands BeatBox and Cutwater.
Since the acquisition, Nütrl is said to have become one of the fastest-growing RTD brands in North America and the second-biggest vodka soda RTD in the US.
The move into Tequila is said to mark a return to ‘category-defining brand building’ for the Meehans.
Los Sundays was founded in 2017 by Mitchell Hayes, Oliver Williams and the Orozco family. The range includes blanco and reposado (both 40% ABV), and two flavoured offerings at 35% ABV: Jalapeño Blanco and Coconut Blanco.
It is produced at Destiladora del Valle de Tequila, also known as Casa Maestri (NOM 1438), in Jalisco. Brands produced there include Michael Jordan’s Cincoro Tequila, Diageo’s 21 Seeds, Hacien and Anteel, among many others.
‘White space in Canada’
“Mitch and Oliver have built something authentic in a category that has gotten very crowded, very quickly,” Paul and Melissa Meehan said in a joint statement.
“There are lots of Tequila products and OK brands out there… but Los Sundays is, in our opinion, the best tasting, and most disruptive of them all. It’s more than another product, it’s a lifestyle brand… it is packed with real fandom, personality, power, and most of all potential.
“We see the same white space in Canada that we saw a decade ago with RTD.”
According to Nielsen data for the 12 months ending 28 March 2026, Los Sundays is the 19th fastest-growing Tequila brand in the US, after soaring by 125% year on year.
Me&Brands will introduce a new 100-calorie Los Sundays Tequila Soda in Canada, alongside the brand’s 100% Blue Weber agave range and merchandise.
Hayes added: “Paul and Melissa wrote the playbook for building a beloved spirits-based RTD brand with Nütrl soaring to the number-one vodka soda in Canada and now the number-two vodka soda in the US.
“Having them in our corner, not only leading our Canadian launch but also joining our board and taking an advisory role for our US business is a step-change moment for Los Sundays.”
Los Sundays is currently sold in US retailers including Trader Joe’s, Total Wine & More, and Mother’s Markets, and in California through Alberton’s, Vons and Pavilion’s stores.
It is also available through ABC Fine Wine & Spirits in Florida. From autumn, the brand will expand in Arizona with Safeway and Fry’s.
Furthermore, the brand is the Tequila used as the base for Margaritas at State Farm Stadium, following a partnership with National Football League (NFL) team the Arizona Cardinals.
