Maison Ferrand UK has brought Destilería Orendain’s 100% Agave range to the UK and will take over distribution of two other expressions in the country.

Casa Orendain launched the 100% agave range to celebrate its centenary this year. It comprises a blanco, a reposado and a cristalino, with all three expressions being produced using traditional stone ovens.

The reposado is rested in American white oak.

The blanco retails for £37.50 (US$50), the reposado for £38.50 (US$51.50), and the cristalino for £39.99 (US$53.50). All three Tequilas are available from The Whisky Exchange.

Gran Orendain and Tequila Orendain Mixto are already available in the UK, but will now be distributed by Maison Ferrand.

Darryl Cripps, managing director of Maison Ferrand UK, said: “Adding our first Tequila is a significant step, and we wanted to do it properly – by working with a family whose name is woven into the category itself.

“It’s a versatile range, with something for every occasion, and we’re excited to partner with such a foundational name in Tequila to bring that breadth and heritage to a UK trade that increasingly wants to know exactly what’s behind the bottle.”

Don Eduardo Orendain González and his brother, Roberto, founded Casa Orendain in Tequila, Jalisco, in 1926. The brand is said to be one of the ‘oldest’ family names in the Tequila category.

Orendain González founded the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry in 1959, a body that secured Tequila’s denomination of origin.

The family distils at La Mexicana, a site acquired in 1944.

CEO Carlos Eduardo Orendain Zamudio added: “For a century, our family has made Tequila the way we believe it should be made – with patience, with care, and with respect for the agave and the land it grows on.

“The UK is an increasingly discerning market for agave spirits, and in Maison Ferrand, we have found a partner that shares our commitment to craft and provenance. We are proud to see our 100% agave range introduced to UK drinkers, and confident it is in the right hands.”
