Red Hook Distillery to open in Brooklyn
By Nicola CarruthersBrooklyn is set to welcome Red Hook Barrel Yard next week, featuring a winery and cidery, with a distillery and cocktail bar to follow later this year.

Red Hook spans 40,000 square feet and is located on the waterfront at 185 Van Dyke Street in Brooklyn, New York. The space features multiple patios with views of downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.
Due to open on 9 May, the site encompasses three projects: Red Hook Cidery, Red Hook Winery and the soon-to-be-launched Red Hook Distillery.
The concept is shaped by New York’s agricultural history, using ingredients grown exclusively by New York state farmers across vineyards, orchards and fields of grain.
The distillery, which is set to launch this year, will focus on a range of small-batch spirits. The site will soon begin commissioning stills for the distillery, which will also feature the new Valentino Craft Cocktail Bar.
Meanwhile, the cidery will make its own cider and offer a New York-focused bar programme with spirits, beer and wines available.
The winery will introduce drinkers to New York wine, alongside providing tours and tasting experiences.
In addition, Red Hook Barrel Yard has partnered with Brooklyn-based seafood restaurant Lundy’s, which has created a ‘Lundy’s on the Waterfront’ menu.
Red Hook Barrel Yard founder Mark Snyder said: “We’ve been quietly working away down here in Red Hook to produce some spectacular wines and ciders from New York.
“We’re now expanding the space to bring more people in on the secret and allow them a chance to discover the quality of what New York can produce from a food and drink perspective.
“Lundy’s has long held a special place in my heart, so to partner with them and bring them back to the waterfront, continuing this tradition of good, honest food in a waterfront setting, is really something to celebrate.
“There’s so much to discover and explore here and more to come as the summer progresses.”
