Could you sink a hole in one to win cask of whisky?

Scottish distillery Eden Mill has launched a ‘Pin It To Win It’ golf simulator challenge, giving players the chance to win a whisky cask worth £5,000 (US$6,670).

The initiative is now active at the Eden Mill Distillery visitor centre in St Andrews – the city dubbed the ‘home of golf’.

For £10 (US$13), players will get three attempts to land closest to the pin on the simulator.

Anyone who achieves a hole-in-one shot will win their very own Eden Mill ex-Bourbon whisky cask worth £5,000, which is filled on-site at the distillery.

In addition to the main challenge, there are prizes for each type of ball placement.

Players who land safely on the green will receive an Eden Mill tote bag. Those who find themselves in the bunker will be awarded a golf ball, while players who hit out of bounds will receive a golf tee, which is referred to as the challenge’s ‘wooden spoon’.

The distillery will also reward the player who is closest to the pin each month with a bottle of its single malt whisky.

Hamish Maclean, senior brand manager at Eden Mill, said: “We wanted to create something spontaneous and genuinely exciting, the kind of thing you walk past and think ‘oh go on then’ and end up talking about for weeks.

“Owning a whisky cask is a dream for many, so we thought, why not give our guests the chance to win one for a tenner?”

The activation links whisky tourism with golf culture, allowing visitors to practice their swing just minutes from the Old Course.

Pin It To Win It is accessible to all visitors at Eden Mill’s distillery visitor centre in Guardbridge, along with gin and whisky tours, a cocktail bar, and blending experiences.
