1800 Tequila ups the ABV
By Lauren BowesProximo Spirits-owned 1800 Tequila has debuted higher-ABV versions of its reposado and blanco expressions.

Its Tequilas are traditionally bottled at 38%, while the new High Proof line sits at 45% ABV.
The two Tequilas will be available across the US in smaller-sized 375ml bottles.
“With more than 250 years of Tequila-making tradition behind us, we are proud to continue evolving our portfolio while staying true to our roots,” said Alex Coronado, master distiller and head of production.
“These new high-proof expressions reflect the craftsmanship passed down through 11 continuous generations of maestro tequileros – bringing forward the richness of agave, enhanced aromatic complexity, and a more intense tasting experience.”
Both expressions are made with 100% Blue Weber agave. The blanco is double-distilled and blended with a ‘special’ selection of white Tequilas, while the reposado is rested in new American and French oak barrels.
The blanco retails for US$18.99 and the reposado for US$19.99.
Earlier this year, 1800 Tequila created the ‘first-ever Tequila diamond’ in collaboration with jewellery designer Jonathan Raksha. Made with the brand’s cristalino expression, the diamond featured on a brooch worn by musician Janelle Monáe at the Met Gala.
