The Drinks Trust launched Face It Together in January this year. So far, the campaign has hit 73% of its fundraising target (£734,001/US$991,177 at the time of writing). Donations can be made on the campaign’s Just Giving page.

In 2024, the charity supported 7,553 people working across the drinks and hospitality sectors in the UK. It anticipated that by the end of 2025, even more people will have needed its support as data from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation forecast that 22% of working-age adults would experience poverty in 2025.

On Friday 19 September, industry professionals – bartenders, brewers, sommeliers, journalists, distillers, wholesalers, and more – are asked to post in unison across their social media channels to generate awareness and vital funds for the campaign.

Posts should tag The Drinks Trust, use the hashtag #FaceItTogether, and drive donations on the fundraising page.

The Drinks Trust’s social media handles are: @drinks_trust on Instagram and Facebook; @TheDrinksTrust on LinkedIn; and @DrinksTrust on X (formerly Twitter).

Posts could be selfies, a message or story of support, a personal anecdote, the campaign donation link, or perhaps a video about why support is crucial.

Speaking about the campaign when it launched in January, Nicky Burston, CEO of The Drinks Trust, said: “On the back of Covid and the cost-of-living crisis, our colleagues’ financial resilience is at an all-time low, and the slightest drop in income for some can make the difference between being able to cope and sliding into poverty and debt.

“Many of us know first-hand that circumstances can change on a sixpence, and it is vital that we are able to continue to provide immediate financial assistance to those who find themselves in urgent need, in their time of deepest crisis.

“We are all proud to be part of such a phenomenal group of people, for we know that the true strength of our industry lies in our ability to pull together.

“The combined power of our efforts is our unique alchemy that transforms each individual contribution into our collective force for widespread good. Let us stand together as we have done since 1886 to answer our biggest challenge yet.

“We want to support our colleagues in their time of need with financial assistance and emotional well-being and inspire them with learning so that we can help them stay and thrive in the industry we all love.”
