Rémy Cointreau is the second firm this week to move to Southern Glazer’s for California distribution

One day after Edrington announced a new distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s in California, Rémy Cointreau USA has followed suit. The new agreement comes after Rémy’s previous distributor, Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC), decided to exit California.

“We are pleased to welcome Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits as our new exclusive distribution partner in California, as we continue to serve our valued clients and trade partners in this vital market for our premium portfolio of products,” said Nicolas Beckers, CEO of Rémy Cointreau, Americas.

“Southern Glazer’s has demonstrated a strong ability to execute in the national accounts space, as well as shown sustained commitment to winning in the on-premise channel, which remain major priorities for Rémy Cointreau in California.”

The agreement includes the distribution of the full Rémy Cointreau portfolio, including Rémy Martin, Louis XIII, Cointreau, and The Botanist.

“We are thrilled to represent the iconic Rémy Cointreau portfolio in the largest beverage alcohol market in the US,” said Wayne E Chaplin, president and CEO of Southern Glazer’s. “We look forward to bringing our unmatched expertise in spirits along with the largest and most highly trained, feet-on-the-street salesforce to our expanded relationship in California.”

California is one of the single biggest markets for spirits in the US. There will be continued fallout from RNDC’s decision to exit the state, with Southern Glazer’s looking like the immediate beneficiary as brands both large and small scramble for distribution.

We spoke to industry insiders to discover how RNDC’s departure would affect spirits brands.
