Coppa Cocktails launches canned RTDs

Spanish company MG Destilerías has added a range of canned ready-to-drink (RTD) expressions to its Coppa Cocktails portfolio.

Coppa Cocktails RTDs make their debut in three flavours

The range of 200ml cans comes in three flavours: Spicy Margarita, Paloma Spritz, and Coconut Daiquiri.

The move follows MG Destilerías’ acquisition of the RTD brand in 2024 and marks Coppa Cocktails’ first product innovation since the change of ownership.

Spicy Margarita offers a ‘fiery twist’ on the Mexican classic, blending Tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur with chilli. On the other hand, Paloma Spritz is a lightly sparkling blend of Tequila, grapefruit, lime juice, and a pinch of salt, and Coconut Daiquiri pairs premium rum with real coconut and lime juice.

Each recipe has been developed by mixologists using natural juices, real distillates, and layered recipes.

“We’ve created a real cocktail in a can, not a soft drink with alcohol,” explained Manu Giró, CEO of MG Destilerías.

“Our new range combines full flavour, mixology standards and visual appeal. The 200ml format is intentional: it aligns with the ‘drink less, drink better’ mindset, while the elevated ABV 10% ensures it tastes like the real deal.”

Citing IWSR data, the brand noted that canned RTDs have experienced rapid growth in Europe, with the category projected to expand at an annual rate of 12%.  Premium RTDs are outpacing all other segments, with a 49% increase in value in 2023.

Flavour is said to be the primary factor influencing purchases in the ready-to-drink (RTD) category, followed closely by alcohol content and ingredient quality.

The new 200ml Coppa RTD cocktails intend to target consumers on the move and attract new drinkers.

They  will roll out this summer across Spain, Portugal, the UK, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway, backed by a dedicated campaign.

A single-serve can has a recommended retail price of €3.50 (US$4).

The brand also offers cocktails in 700ml, 100ml, and eight-litre bag-in-box formats and 20- and 30-litre KeyKegs.

At The Pre-Mixed, RTD & Hard Seltzer Masters 2025, all three new Coppa Cocktails RTDs were recognised with Gold medals.

Earlier this year, MG Destilerías partnered with MBG International Group to launch its pre-mixed cocktails in Germany.
