Portobello Road creates gin for Italian market

Portobello Road Gin has collaborated with Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco and bartender Filippo Sisti to create a new limited edition gin for the Italian market.

Portobello Road Gin has launched an expression for the Italian market

The expression has been created as part of Portobello Road’s Local Heroes initiative and follows the launch of Local Heroes No.1, a collaboration between Portobello Road and leading London restaurant The Ledbury.

Portobello Road Local Heroes No.2 has been crafted as part of a collaboration between the brand, Cracco and Sisti, head bartender at Cracco’s Milan-based restaurant and cocktail bar Carlo e Camilla in Segheria.

Presented at events during Italian Gin Day, its botanicals include mango skin, timut peppercorn, selim, pepper and dill. Portobello Road Gin, distributed in Italy by Onestigroup S.p.A, said the partnership aims to raise awareness of its core variant in Italy.

“It’s a massive honour to be able to work with Carlo and Filippo to create a London Dry Gin with an Italian heart,” said Tom Coates, brand director at Portobello Road Gin. “As expected, the flavours are totally unique and we believe the result is extremely exciting.

“We introduced our brand to the Italian market only two years ago and we have already seen very positive growth since it’s launch there. We’re looking forward to increasing awareness of the core brand in Italy with the launch of the Local Heroes No.2 edition.”

Portobello Road Local Heroes No.2, of which 1,000 bottles have been created, will be available across Italy, with a limited number of bottles available in the UK.

Earlier this year, Portobello Road Gin revealed plans to open a new multi-million pound distillery and “gin mecca” at its namesake site in Notting Hill, London.
