Based in Cornwall, England, Tarquin’s Gin was founded in 2012 by Tarquin Leadbetter.

The company is planning to put further investment in Europe, including the key markets of Germany and Italy, where the firm has witnessed triple-digit growth over the past 12 months.

Southwestern Distillery is also working with brewing firm Molson Coors to expand its distribution in the off-trade in the UK and Republic of Ireland, after the brand established a ‘strong’ on-trade presence since its launch.

The company also reported a 50% growth in revenue to £12.1 million (US$16.3M) in the 12 months to October 2021.

“Tarquin’s Gin is on yet another phenomenal wave of growth,” said Leadbetter, who is also the brand’s master distiller. “We’re already exporting to over 40 countries worldwide but are now ready to tackle the US. I’m spending two months out there at the beginning of 2022 to launch the brand on the east and west coasts and replicate our success in the UK and Europe.”

In 2021, nearly 10m people visited Cornwall, according to Tarquin’s. As such, the brand created new experiential visitor centres and gin schools to attract holiday-goers.

The company estimates that more than one million Tarquin’s and tonics were enjoyed in Cornwall over the summer of 2021 alone.

Earlier this year, Southwestern Distillery released an ‘experimental’ Tarquin’s gin made with yuzu and lime.
