Laphroaig unveils 2015 Cairdeas edition

Beam Suntory has launched the 2015 edition of its annual Laphroaig Cairdeas bottling, which is said to pay homage to how whisky was created 200 years ago.

Laphroaig Cairdeas 2015 is created using some of the distillery’s “finest” malt

Laphroaig Cairdeas 2015 has been produced using the Islay distillery’s “finest malting floor’s malt” and is distilled in smaller stills.

Matured in Laphroaig’s number one warehouse, based close to the sea, the expression is said to have a “fruity and salty” taste of earthy peat, iodine, black pepper, and liquorice toffee.

The whisky has been launched as Laphroaig celebrates its 200th anniversary and is priced US$74.99 for a 750ml bottle.

To mark the landmark event, Laphroaig also re-released its 15-year-old single malt for a limited time and unveiled a new 16-year-old special edition in travel retail.

The brand also recently released a 32-year-old bottling aged in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks at a price of US$1,200.
