Held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore from 7-11 May, the annual travel retail and duty free trade show and summit attracted representatives from 1,220 companies (+3% on 2016) with 1,273 (+18%) key buyers present.

The exhibition floor space spanned 10,254sqm, a 4% increase on the area occupied last year, with 316 companies (+2%) showcasing their products. Of these, 76 were new exhibitors.

TFWA’s ONE2ONE networking service saw 385 meetings arranged, with businesses taking part including 41 airports, 44 airlines and inflight sales operators, and 11 cruise and ferry companies.

The event opened with a conference and series of workshops, which were attended by 1,440 delegates, up 4% on 2016.

Networking and social events also proved popular, with a record 989 guests enjoying the Welcome Cocktail at the Raffles Hotel, 555 attending the Chill-Out Party at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and 746 travelling to the Singapore Swing Party at Universal Studios on Sentosa Island.

“We were delighted to see record figures across all key parameters at this year’s TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference,” said TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen.

“If ever we needed it, the event was confirmation of the huge importance of this region to the great industry that is duty free and travel retail.”
