La Martiniquaise acquires Wenneker brands
La Martiniquaise, owner of Label 5 Scotch whisky, has acquired three spirits brands from Dutch liqueurs producer Wenneker for an undisclosed sum.
La Martiniquaise has purchased Olifant and Goblet genevers and Dujardin brandy from WennekerThe French drinks group has purchased a 100% stake in Olifant and Goblet genevers, as well as Dujardin brandy, in a bid to strengthen its portfolio. The deal also sees La Martiniquaise take a stake in Holland’s second-largest drinks distributor, Inspirits.
“In a nutshell, this acquisition enables us to get a large and consistent portfolio and to strengthen our distribution, in order to further develop our international brands, mainly Label 5, Poliakov and Cruz Port,” said Sylvia Bernard, group international marketing director for La Martiniquaise.
“La Martiniquaise has a strong international development, which has been accelerated in Europe by the opening of subsidiaries and the acquisition of local heroes – Belgium in 2009, Italy in 2012 and now the Netherlands.”
In September last year, the group unveiled a new expression for Label 5 that was designed for Scotch fans keen to explore the brand’s whisky in “more depth”.
