Rare Hennessy Cognac to fetch €20,000 at auction
By Becky PaskinA bottle of Hennessy Edition Particulière, which is expected to fetch €20,000, will lead the ninth annual La Part des Anges charity auction next month in Cognac, France.
Hennessy Edition Particulière is expected to fetch €20,000 at the La Part des Anges auction next monthAnd for the first time, the auction of 25 rare Cognacs, which is supported by the Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC), will be accepting online bids for those unable to attend at Bassac Abbey on 18 September.
The Hennessy Edition Particulière is a blend of hors d’age eaux-de-vie comprised of “the greatest Conacs produced by the House,” such as Richard Hennessy.
Yann Fillioux, seventh generation master blender, said: ”Alfred Fillioux, my great-grandfather, was the first to conceive the brilliant idea of creating such a priceless legacy, to be handed down to future generations. It is a testament to the abilities of all the generations that went before us.”
The 43% abv expression is presented in a Baccarat crystal carafe with handcrafted seal by Guerlain.
Joining it in the auction are Rémy Martin 290th Anniversary Coupe from the cellar master’s perpetual reserve, which carries a guide price of €15,000; Martell’s The Queen’s Decanter for €10,000; Courvoisier L’Espirit de Joséphine at €8,000; and a unique Hardy Hommage Carafe Lalique Trèves for €6,000.
All profits from the auction, which is expected to raise over €115,000, will be donated to the Children in Crisis charity.
“The soirée – the ninth event to be held – will bring together several hundred Cognac guests who share a passion for Cognac and great generosity,” said Jean-Marc Morel, president of the BNIC. “This charity auction of prestige Cognacs also illustrates the dedication to excellence of the men and women involved in the making of Cognac, and mirrors the magic which allows a beautiful art form to be born of nature.”
Last year’s La Part des Anges auction raised €175,000 for the French Red Cross and local charity L’Arche à Cognac. Its highlight was the sales of a jeroboam of Rémy Martin Louis XIII for €32,000, while Hennessy’s Part des Anges 2013 Carafe 1900 went for €20,000.
