Difford sells London Cocktail Week to Whisky Exchange group

Diffords Guide has sold London Cocktail Week to ABV Global, a new group headed by The Whisky Exchange’s Sukhinder Singh.

London Cocktail Week has grown to become the capital’s leading cocktail festival

Having first launched in 2010, London Cocktail Week, which runs for seven days every October, has grown to attract more than 12,000 visitors each year.

Founded by Hannah Sharman-Cox and Simon Difford’s Odd Firm of Sin group, the event is London’s leading cocktail-orientated festival.

Since its inception, London Cocktail Week has since expanded to include the London Wine Week (2-8 June 2014) and Hong Kong Cocktail Week.

Difford, who also runs online bartender resource Diffords Guide, has decided to sell the event to ABV Global to better concentrate on the website and book publishing business.

“From what started as my saying to Hannah Sharman-Cox that we should do something like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for cocktails in London, I’m proud of what an important event London Cocktail Week has become,” Difford said.

London Cocktail Week will continue to be headed up by Sharman-Cox, and run by the full, existing team.

ABV Global will be backed by Speciality Drinks, a subsidiary of Singh’s Whisky Exchange online drinks retailing business.
