Hey Bartender documentary released next week
By Becky PaskinA documentary exploring the art of bartending and craft cocktails through the eyes of two newcomers to the industry is being released in the US next week.
The documentary Hey Bartender is rolling out to US cinemas from 7 JuneHey Bartender follows the lives of two men: Steve Schneider, an injured Marine who is now the head bartender at NYC speakeasy Employees Only, and Steve Carperntieri, who left an office job to run Dunville’s in Westport, Connecticut.
Directed by Douglas Tirola, the documentary features commentary from some of the country’s best cocktail bartenders, including Danny Meyer of Gramercy Tavern, Graydon Carter, Frank Pelleggrino of Rao’s and Amy Sacco of Bungalow 8.
Having premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas in March, Hey Bartender will be screened at Village East Cinema in New York City on 7 June, before rolling out to 10 additional markets including Los Angeles, San Diego, Tulsa, Seattle and Denver from14 June.
Overseas fans can download the movie from 21 June from iTunes.
Hey Bartender has been releasing teaser interviews with several bartenders in the States in the run-up to the documentary’s release on its Facebook page.
