Aldi brings back Tequila Rose dupe

Supermarket chain Aldi will relaunch its Premium Agave Strawberry Flavour Cream Liqueur in UK stores this week (16 July).

Aldi’s Strawberry Cream liqueur has an ABV of 15%

The flavoured liqueur retails for just £7.99 (US$11) for a 500ml bottle, a saving of 44% when compared with Tequila Rose.

The supermarket recommends serving the liqueur ice-cold, drizzled over vanilla ice cream or shaken into a dessert cocktail.

Aldi is also pitching its Cavalo Tequila Blanco against Sierra Silver. The supermarket Tequila retails for £11.99 (US$16) for a 500ml bottle, 31% cheaper than the Stock Spirits-owned Tequila.

Both price comparisons were made against Tesco prices in June.

The two agave expressions will be in Aldi stores prior to National Tequila Day on 24 July.

We previously did a deep dive into the rise of imitation spirits and learned how brands can protect themselves from copycats.

The feature was prompted by a lawsuit against Aldi, which saw Marks & Spencer win a trademark dispute over a gin liqueur range containing gold flakes.
