Founded in 2012, Country Boy Brewing operates craft beer taprooms in Georgetown, Lexington and Louisville, with its main Georgetown site said to be the largest production brewery in the state.

Country Boy Brewing’s expansion into spirits will include vodka, gin and apple brandy.

The brand will take over a 1,300-square-foot facility at 325 Cincinnati Road in Scott Country, which used to house long-time butcher Hi-View Meats & Groceries.

The brand said that once it opens, Country Boy Distilling will be the first production distillery in Scott County since the repeal of Prohibition.

Daniel ‘DH’ Harrison, founder and brand manager at Country Boy Brewing, said: “This place is close to my heart, I grew up stopping there every week. Being able to plant our distillation roots in Sadieville means a lot to the family that is Country Boy Brewing.”

“We worked with Vendome to create a custom 100 gallon still,” added Tyler Gomez, the brand’s director of distillation. “This has been two years in the making, and we are all really excited to see that first batch in the bottle.”

Alongside spirits production, the facility will host visitor experiences, allowing guests to view the distillation process, as well as a small bar for tasting signature cocktails and the brand’s beer range.

Country Boy Brewing also hopes the distillery will join the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, with the company intending to become a member of the Kentucky Distillers Association (KDA).

According to the KDA, the state’s Bourbon Trail welcomed 2.7 million visitors last year. The sector generates US$10.6 billion for Kentucky’s economy annually.

Marketing director Pete Weiss added: “We are excited to offer tours of our small distillery to locals and tourists alike.

“The small tasting room on site will offer a unique experience for first-time guests as well as long-time Country Boy fans.”
