The spiced rum is now available at 109 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK as well as the retailer’s online shop.

Cask Liquid Marketing distributes Island Rum Brands’ Black Tears and La Progresiva rums.

Stuart Ekins, co-founder at Cask Liquid Marketing, said: “Black Tears Dry Spiced rum has been recruiting fans and exciting bartenders since its UK launch about six years ago. Our new listing with Sainsbury’s is a testament to the brand’s ongoing success and customer loyalty.

“Cocktails at home are in growth, and Black Tears is well placed to provide innovative takes on favourites such as the Cuba Libre, Daiquiri, Mojito, and Espresso Martini. The future looks bright.”

Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum continues to demonstrate steady growth in the UK modern retail channel. According to the latest Nielsen data for the 52 weeks ending in March 2026, the brand has experienced a 10.3% increase in volume compared to the previous period.

Helena Zakmane, international commercial and marketing director of Island Rum Brands, commented: “The UK has been the strategic market for Black Tears since the beginning. Together with our partners at Cask, we’re working tirelessly to ensure the wide availability of the product in all distribution channels, and Sainsbury’s listing is an important milestone in the off-premise for us.

“With plenty of promotional activities planned for the next 12 months, we want to make sure that more consumers in the UK can have the opportunity to try this unique Cuban rum.”

Last month, Black Tears expanded its Nordic presence with a listing on Viking Line cruise ships.
