Ole Smoky opens doors to Myrtle Beach site
By Rupert HohwielerMoonshine maker Ole Smoky has opened its new South Carolina distillery and brewery experience in Myrtle Beach.

Plans for the site were first unveiled in February last year. The facility, which is the first joint venture between Ole Smoky and Yee-Haw Brewing outside of Tennessee, will support the production of both brands.
“This is a huge moment for us,” said Joe Baker, who founded the two brands. “Expanding, especially to an iconic destination like Myrtle Beach, allows us to bring the Ole Smoky and Yee-Haw experience to an entirely new audience in an even bigger way.”
The 40,000 square-foot venue is described as an ‘entertainment-driven experience’. During guided distillery tours, visitors can view Ole Smoky’s moonshine production and enjoy live music and entertainment. Guests can also sample signature Ole Smoky moonshine and whiskey flights, as well as craft beers from Yee-Haw Brewing.
Ole Smoky intends the facility to be an ‘all-in-one’ destination where guests can eat, shop and sip cocktails alongside the tours and tastings. It features multiple bars, a spacious beer garden and a patio overlooking Broadway Lake.
The inside space centres around one of the area’s largest TV screens, with the brand positioning the site as a go-to location for game days.
“This is about creating a place where people want to stay a while – with great drinks, plenty of moonshine, craft beer, live music and a fun atmosphere,” Baker said.
The venue’s location, within Broadway at the Beach, is said to be South Carolina’s number one tourist, shopping, dining and entertainment destination, attracting millions of visitors each year.
Ole Smoky’s new Myrtle Beach location will open on 20 May. The venue will then operate daily from 11am to 11pm.
Due to South Carolina laws, the distillery’s to-go spirit sales end at 7pm and are not permitted on Sundays. However, the bar will remain open every day until 11pm, with to-go beer still available.
Ole Smoky appointed the former boss of 818 Tequila and Sprinter, Michael Novy, as its new CEO in August last year.
Baker founded the Tennessee-based brand in 2020. It sold 1.2 million nine-litre cases in 2024, according to The Brand Champions 2025 report.
Ole Smoky has four other distilleries, all in Tennessee: The Holler and The Barrelhouse in Gatlinburg, The Barn in Pigeon Forge, and 6th & Peabody in Nashville.
