Maya Pistola expands London presence
By Nicola CarruthersIndia’s ‘first’ aged agave spirit Maya Pistola has increased its presence in London with a new listing and made its debut across trade shows in recent weeks.

Produced in Goa, the Indian agave spirit entered the UK market in November last year with a listing at The Whisky Exchange. The brand was founded in 2021 by hospitality veterans Rakshay and Radhika Dhariwal.
The brand is now featured on the agave menu at The Perception bar at W London hotel.
With the aim of driving awareness in the UK, with a focus on London, Maya Pistola has made appearances at trade shows across the capital this month.
Maya Pistola took part in The Whisky Exchange’s Tequila & Mezcal Show (14-16 May), where it introduced agave fans to its range.
The appearance formed part of the brand’s international expansion plans as it seeks to bring a ‘fresh perspective’ to the agave spirits segment.
After the Tequila & Mezcal Show, Maya Pistola participated in London Wine Fair (18-20 May), where it was part of The Global Spirits Masters showcase. It also featured in Millie Milliken’s tasting session ‘Agave on Fire: This Spirits Category Just Keeps Innovating’ which explored agave spirits on the market.
Maya Pistola is made from wild-growing agave Americana from the Deccan Plateau, which is harvested once it reaches between eight and 14 years of age.
The range includes joven (£31.95/US$43), reposado (£34.95/US$47), añejo (£39.95/US$54), and extra añejo (£63.95/US$86).
The añejo and reposado carry ABVs of 40%, while the joven is bottled at 38% ABV and the extra añejo at 48% ABV.
Maya Pistola also held an intimate guided tasting at London’s House of Decant on 19 May, led by founder Rakshay Dhariwal. Guests tried the brand’s four expressions and were educated around the ‘agavepura’ category that Pistola is leading.
Agavepura, as defined by Maya Pistola, refers to agave spirits produced outside of Mexico that are made from 100% agave and without additives.
Diageo’s United Spirits arm purchased a minority stake in Maya Pistola’s parent company, Inspired Hospitality, in April 2024.
