Rémy Cointreau reshapes leadership with transformation plan
By Lauren BowesFollowing three years of difficulties, Rémy Cointreau has decided to take an ‘offensive’ approach through a new transformation plan.

In its most recent results, the firm saw sales dip by 1.9% in the first nine months of its 2025-26 financial year. However, there were signs of a bounce-back in the third quarter, when sales grew by 2.8%.
The group has struggled in recent years due to tariffs in the US and China’s anti-dumping investigation.
Rémy Cointreau said its ‘decisive’ step forward is aimed at regaining momentum in its markets and maximising the potential of its brands.
CEO Franck Marilly said: “After three years marked by a complex environment, it is time for Rémy Cointreau to stand out within its industry.
“The group has the privilege of relying on an exceptional portfolio of brands and on talented and committed teams.
“RC Forward Plan aims to give us the means to generate our own value creation momentum and thus become less dependent on macroeconomic cycles.
“It also seeks to strengthen the entrepreneurial and conquering mindset of our teams, building on the group’s culture while instilling greater discipline, rigour and performance focus.
“Our ambition is clear: to sustainably improve profitability in order to generate additional resources to reinvest in growth.”

The three-year plan has five ‘strategic levers’, the first of which addresses the efficiency of distribution. The group hopes to expand its reach and capture new growth opportunities.
The second lever is enhancing revenue management through optimising pricing, products, formats and promotions.
Its third aim is to maximise marketing impact by better allocating brand and media investments.
For the fourth, Rémy Cointreau intends to optimise procurement by reducing costs and freeing up resources for growth.
The final lever involves the simplification of the organisation, streamlining decision-making and boosting performance culture.
The group will share progress on the transformation plan alongside the publication of its annual results on 4 June.

The plan involves a series of organisational changes, many of which have already been announced.
The group has created a steering committee within the executive committee to oversee the new transformation plan.
The steering committee includes Luca Marotta, who will become deputy chief executive officer while continuing to oversee finance, IT and legal.
Ian McLernon has been appointed group chief markets officer and will oversee all regions, including a new emerging markets area.
Meanwhile, Mélanie Bulourde will become group chief operations and CSR officer, alongside Clarisse Petit as group chief human resources officer.
A group chief brands officer will be appointed at a later date, with Marilly assuming responsibility for this function in the meantime.
The steering committee comprises part of the executive committee, alongside eight further members.
One of these is Ludovic du Plessis, who leads the newly created Prestige Division.

A chief transformation officer role has also been created and will exist for the duration of the transformation plan. Célia d’Everlange will take on this function alongside her role leading financial communications.
Amaury Vinclet, general manager of Rémy Martin, who took on the role in October 2025, has also joined the committee, alongside Christophe de Pous, the newly appointed CEO for the US and Canada.
Other committee members include Elisabeth Tona, CEO of the liqueurs and spirits division; Douglas Taylor, CEO of the whisky and gin division; Sophie Phe, CEO for China; and Carina Alfonso Martin, group chief communications and public affairs officer.
In addition, two new ‘laboratories’ have been created to ‘foster innovation and improve certain practices’.
Taylor will oversee the Innovation Lab, which will analyse consumption trends and new growth opportunities, with an end-consumer-oriented approach.
Meanwhile, Phe assumes responsibility for the Executive Lab, which is dedicated to accelerating execution and transformation rollout.
