DropWorks brings its British-made rums to Fortnum & Mason stores

DropWorks makes its Fortnum & Mason debut with three offerings, including Barrel Drop, aged in American and Portuguese oak casks, and limited-edition Distiller’s Drop #001, matured for 17 months in English sweet chestnut wood.

The third offering is a rum gift set comprising three 50ml bottles of Clear Drop, Barrel Drop, and Spice Drop.

As part of the partnership, visitors to the Fortnum & Mason’s flagship store at 181 Piccadilly in London will have the chance to sample the rums on 14 May, 13 June, and 25 June.

Lewis Hayes, founder and master distiller at DropWorks Rum Distillery, said: “With our rum crafted and distilled in Britain using quality and natural ingredients, being listed by such a prestigious retailer is a huge achievement.

“We are thrilled to be able to extend our brand into a broader and new arena – with even more consumers having the chance to enjoy our bold and distinct rum flavours.”

DropWorks Distillery, situated in the heart of Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, claims to be the largest distillery of its kind in Europe.

Established in 2023 by Hayes, the distillery has the capacity to produce up to 1.5 million bottles of rum each year and can distil up to 10 barrels of rum a day.

The distillery is equipped with bespoke copper stills, where a team of artisan distillers is dedicated to fermenting, distilling, ageing, and bottling every drop of rum on-site.

“This premium listing comes at a really exciting time in our story,” Hayes explained. “Having successfully launched our first crowdfunding campaign late last year, during which we raised almost half a million pounds, we’ve been able to swiftly accelerate our growth plans and secure stand-out partnerships with brands we’ve always admired and revered, such as Fortnum & Mason.

“Being proudly stocked by such a recognised British brand pairs perfectly with one of our key drivers, which is to bring quality, delicious rum centre stage with businesses who share our passion for British-made liquid.”

DropWorks is currently available at several of the UK’s top restaurants and bars, including Mildreds, Soma, Plotting Parlour, Ottolenghi, Slowpour, and Blinker.

Last month, the distillery released the second limited edition in its Distiller’s Drops series, aged for 28 months in Bordeaux red wine casks.
