Barcelona Cocktail Fest wraps up first edition
By Miona MadsenThe inaugural Barcelona Cocktail Fest (BCF) attracted more than 3,000 local and international visitors to the Palo Alto event venue on 18-19 April.

Taking place in the Poblenou district of Barcelona, the two-day event for the international bar industry was curated by Giacomo Giannotti, founder of Paradiso bar, and co-founded by Giuseppe Gallo, founder of ItalSpirits.
The 2026 edition, themed ‘FutureProof – Reimagining the Industry for What Comes Next’, brought together 10 award-winning bars, global thought leaders, and Spain’s own hospitality community.
Giannotti said: “Barcelona Cocktail Fest 2026 was exactly what we set out to build – a festival that champions craft, community and the future of our industry in equal measure, with at its core a sustainability practice.
“Seeing the Palo Alto site alive with voices from four continents, alongside our local Spanish bar community, confirmed everything we believed this event could be.”
The festival featured more than 60 brands and served more than 5,000 cocktails in two days.
Gallo commented on the Spanish capital’s significance to the industry: “Barcelona has always had a rare mix of creativity and hospitality, and this edition proved that BCF can channel that energy into a format that genuinely connects trade and consumers.
“The calibre of the bars, the depth of the panels and the commitment of our brand partners turned BCF 2026 into a global platform we can keep building on for years to come.”
Curated programme
The FutureProof seminar programme, developed in collaboration with The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), featured a lineup of international speakers.
These included Charlotte Voisey, president of the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation; Julie Reiner from Milady’s, New York; Vijay Mudaliar (Native, Singapore), Jean Trinh from Alquímico, Cartagena; Mandy Naglich, author of How to Taste; Paul Clarke from Imbibe, US; and Danil Nevsky of Indie Bartender, along with local voices from Barcelona.
The educational programme covered a variety of topics, such as the next generation of bars, the practical role of AI in hospitality, minimising waste while maintaining a personal touch, and building sustainable careers in the industry.
Feedback from attendees consistently highlighted the depth of the discussions and the inspiring nature of the programme as a defining strength of BCF 2026.
The involvement from initiatives like Women & Hospitality aimed to establish the festival as a significant meeting point for bar talent, innovative ideas, and forward-thinking hospitality.
BCF’s pop-up programme featured a two-day lineup of bars that showcased a selection of global favourites.
The participants included Alquímico from Cartagena, Native from Singapore, Locale Firenze from Florence, Lady Bee from Lima, De Vie from Paris, Drink Kong from Rome, The Bar in Front of the Bar from Athens, Angelita from Madrid, Himkok from Oslo, and Paradiso from Barcelona.
Each bar brought its signature cocktails and unique creative identity to Palo Alto, resulting in more than 5,000 craft cocktails served with locally-made clear ice cubes by artisanal ice-maker Irokori.
The festival also featured DJ sets from Verushka, Martini Raw, Paula GM, Juanxa, Libertango, and Mr Mounets, along with a curated food selection from Antonia’s Burger, Lulu & Flyn, Nomad Coffee, and Warike.
